Michael

Michael Shaquille Jordan's loving and caring nature inspired those who knew him.  He was an extraordinary young man who never gave up in the face of adversity.

At just six-months-old, Michael Shaquille Jordan was diagnosed with a rare disease, that caused him to be born without a collarbone. His open rib cage made him more susceptible to illness; however, Michael did not let this stop him. After many spinal surgeries, one of which left him paralyzed from the waist down, he decided that nothing would hold him back from helping others.

During a visit to the doctor, Michael read about organ, eye and tissue donation and the number of people that could be saved or helped through donation.  He made the decision to become a register immediately. Since so many people had helped him over his lifetime, he wanted to help others, too.

Michael’s loving and caring nature inspired those who knew him.  He was an extraordinary young man who never gave up in the face of adversity. He was passionate about two things; living his life as best he could, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

When he died at the age of 19 from pneumonia, Michael passion for helping others became evident.  He was able to donate bone, connective tissue, and corneas.  Michael’s mom, Chimene, says “Michael was such a blessing to me and our family. It is comforting to know he is now a blessing to so many other families as well.”

Michael lived a heroic life, and his decision to donate also prompted his family members to register to be donors, as well.

Michael was destined to be a superstar.
Michael once said that since so many people had helped him over his lifetime, he wanted to help others too. He registered to be an organ donor immediately.
