Donor Family Recipient Communication

The families of organ donors and organ recipients may exchange anonymous correspondences when this is requested and agreeable to each. Please contact the bereavement department for more information about communication between donor families and recipients. The status of organ recipients is available if you would like to contact the bereavement services coordinator at 216.820.4805.

If interested, you may also download a copy of the donor family or recipient guidelines for communication.

Tissue and cornea donor families may contact the bereavement services coordinator and counselor at 216.820.4805 to receive information about the unique circumstances around correspondence and to inquire about the status of the donated tissue or corneas.

There is no time frame for corresponding, and you are welcome to initiate correspondence.

Donor families and recipients are asked to respect each other’s privacy. Please know that seeking and contacting individuals using the internet and social media may not be welcome.

Write Your Letter Online

Lifebanc now offers the opportunity to write your letter online. By filling out a form, you can include a message to your loved one’s recipients or your donor’s family.

Completed forms will be submitted directly to Bereavement Services at Lifebanc and then, if the family agrees to accept the correspondence, forwarded to them.

Stories

The stories of our donor and recipient families are powerful, moving celebrations of life, hope, and love that get to the heart of why we do what we do, and the difference we can all make. Lifebanc believes that anyone can be a hero – and we see it every day in the generous decisions of people and families who choose and support organ and tissue donation. We’d like you to meet some of these heroes, and some of the Northeast Ohio neighbors they are helping.
