Getting Your First Driver’s License or State ID?
Get ready for one very important question.
Whether you’re getting your first Ohio driver’s license, permit or state ID—including a REAL ID—you’ll be asked:
Would you like to register as an organ, eye and tissue donor?
Here’s why you should say yes.
One donor can:
-
Save up to 8 lives
through organ donation
-
Heal more than 100 people
through eye and tissue donation
That means your decision could one day help someone:
- Receive a lifesaving heart, kidney, liver or other organ
- Regain their sight
- Heal from serious burns or injuries
- Return to the people and activities they love
Know the Facts
Will doctors still do everything possible to save me?
Yes. Saving your life is always the first priority. Donation is considered only after every lifesaving effort has been made.
Am I too young or unhealthy to register?
Age and most medical conditions do not prevent you from registering. Medical professionals decide what can be donated when the time comes.
Does it cost anything?
No. A donor’s family is never charged for donation.
