Every conversation, classroom visit, and event moves us closer to a community where donation is embraced as a natural act of humanity. Whether you volunteer, host an event, or share your story, you help Lifebanc save and heal more lives across Northeast Ohio. Our biggest annual event is the Gift of Life Walk and Run every summer in Cleveland.
Why Community Education Matters
Community education is at the heart of how Lifebanc builds support for organ, eye, and tissue donation across Northeast Ohio. Most people say they support donation, yet many have never taken the one-minute step of registering — often because of questions or myths they have carried for years. That is why our staff and volunteers show up at schools, workplaces, health fairs, faith communities, and festivals throughout the 20 counties we serve. Honest conversations change minds, and changed minds save lives.
The need is real: more than 100,000 people are waiting for a transplant nationwide, including thousands of Ohioans. National campaigns from Donate Life America carry this message across the country, and the federal resources at organdonor.gov explain how donation and transplantation work. Here at home, every classroom visit and community table brings a few more neighbors onto the Ohio Donor Registry.
However you choose to get involved — volunteering, speaking, fundraising, or walking — you become part of a movement that turns awareness into registrations, and registrations into second chances.
