Mission & Vision

A vision of hope
for every life.

Lifebanc’s mission and vision define how the organization saves lives, supports families, and increases donor awareness. See how Lifebanc is working toward a future where donation is widely understood and embraced.

Lifebanc’s mission is to save and heal lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation. That mission shapes every part of the organization’s work, from clinical coordination and family support to public education and community outreach. It is a mission grounded in compassion, professionalism, and the belief that every donation opportunity carries the potential to transform lives.

Saving lives through donation means creating pathways for organ transplantation that give patients a second chance. Healing lives through tissue and eye donation means restoring sight, supporting recovery, and helping people regain mobility and function. Lifebanc exists to make those outcomes possible while honoring the generosity of donors and the decisions of their families. This is not simply a medical mission. It is a human one.

Lifebanc’s vision is a future where organ, eye, and tissue donation are fully understood, widely supported, and embraced as a meaningful act of service to others. In that future, more individuals register as donors, more families feel informed and prepared, and more communities recognize donation as a vital part of healthcare and compassion. Lifebanc works toward that vision every day by building awareness, strengthening trust, and helping people move from uncertainty to action.

A strong mission and vision also help define how Lifebanc serves the public. The organization is committed to making donation education clear, accessible, and respectful. Many people have questions about eligibility, medical care, faith, funeral arrangements, or the donation process itself. Lifebanc’s mission includes providing trustworthy information that helps people make informed decisions. Its vision includes removing myths and barriers so that more people understand the real impact of donation.

Mission and vision also guide the organization internally. They shape the way Lifebanc partners with hospitals, supports donor families, coordinates transplants, and evaluates its own performance. Excellence matters because real lives depend on it. Compassion matters because every interaction takes place in deeply personal and often emotional circumstances. Innovation matters because the organization must continue finding better ways to serve patients, families, and communities.

For donor families, the mission and vision of Lifebanc are often experienced through care, communication, and remembrance. For recipients, they are experienced through renewed life and new possibilities. For the broader community, they are reflected in education, outreach, and the ongoing effort to encourage more people to register.

Lifebanc’s mission and vision are ultimately about hope in action. They reflect a commitment to honoring every donor, supporting every family, and helping every possible gift reach the people who need it most. They provide a clear purpose for the organization and a lasting invitation for others to be part of something that truly changes lives.

How Our Mission Guides Our Work

Lifebanc's mission and vision shape every part of our work as the nonprofit organ procurement organization serving 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. They guide how we partner with hospitals, how we care for donor families, and how we help our community understand organ, eye, and tissue donation. We pursue this vision alongside national partners such as Donate Life America and the federal donation community at organdonor.gov.

You can see our values in action in the Lifebanc story, in the work of our leadership team, and in every life changed when someone chooses to become an organ donor. Registering with the Ohio Donor Registry takes about a minute — one small act that carries our whole mission forward.
