Request a FREE Education Program for Your School

An important component of LifeBanc's mission is to educate people of all ages about the need for organ and tissue donors, as well as the benefits of donation. The goal is to provide people with the information they need to make a donation decision based on facts. The following educational services are available free of charge to organizations and schools within LifeBanc's 20-county service area. All programs are developmentally appropriate and correlations to academic standards can be provided.

College Programs
Now it’s time for campuses across Ohio to take a leap forward in converting organ and tissue donation awareness into action.  The Do It Now college program is designed to register new organ and tissue donors while educating students and community members about organ donation.

LifeBanc representatives, transplant recipients and donor family members are available to speak to college or university classes and groups. Programs are specifically tailored to the subject area and educational level of the group. Presentations for nursing or health care professional training programs also may include a member of LifeBanc's clinical staff.

Decision: Donation High School Program
Through interactive classroom activities, educational materials and the personal story of a recipient or donor family member, students learn about the organs and tissue that can be donated as well as the donation and organ allocation processes. The program includes an 18-minute video or CD-ROM in which young people dramatically illustrate the need to make an educated donation decision. Recommended for grades 9-12.

Donate Life Middle School Program

LifeBanc representatives use a donation impact demonstration, a Jeopardy®-style game and an age-appropriate student brochure to teach facts and statistics about donation. Students have the opportunity to hear a transplant recipient and/or donor family member share his or her personal story. Teachers receive a manual including a 20-minute video, pre-presentation lesson plan and optional follow-up activities. Recommended for grades 7-8.

Elementary Programs

Age appropriate programming which includes the “What’s Inside?” anatomy apron and Kids on the Block® puppet programs. Program explanation letters to parents and teacher’s guides are available. Recommended for Pre-K – 6th grade.

Donor Designation Stations and Informational Displays
A staffed booth where individuals can become registered organ and tissue donors, along with educational materials that can be provided for organizational activities, including health and wellness fairs. For certain venues, LifeBanc has donor family quilts and recipient quilts available for use in promoting organ and tissue donation. Brochures, posters, table tents, bulletin/newsletter inserts and paycheck stuffers may also be supplied.

Boy Scout Donor Awareness Patch
Scouts can earn a patch by inviting a LifeBanc representative to speak at a meeting, then discussing donation with at least three other people. Cub Scouts can attend the Gift of Life Puppet Program and complete an activity booklet.

Eagle Scout and Service Learning Projects
The LifeBanc staff is available to assist Eagle Scout candidates or students involved in service learning in planning an organ and tissue donation promotion project.
