Legacy of Life Luncheon 2010 – An Event to Remember
The third annual Legacy of Life luncheon, held on April 29th was a huge success for Lifebanc. A record number of individuals and corporate sponsors attended the event and learned the real importance behind organ and tissue donation, saving and healing lives.
The featured key note speaker, Olympic medalist and Snowboarding Champion, Chris Klug. Chris shared his experience of a life-threatening diagnosis to a life-saving transplant and his climb to snowboarding glory and a Bronze Medal. Chris's appearance was sponsored by Astellas Pharm, USA.
The Legacy of Life award honors those dedicated to educating the public about organ and tissue donation and promoting the individual designation to save and heal lives. The 2010 Legacy of Life award was present by last year’s winner, Mervyn Jones, son of the late Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones.
Newschannel 5 sports reporter Andy Baskin and his sister-in-law, Beth Baskin were this year’s recipients’ of the Legacy of Life award. Andy and Beth accepted the award in honor of Andy’s brother and Beth’s husband Bruce Baskin. Bruce, who fought cystic fibrosis most of his life received a lung transplant that extended his life.
