Shaker Heights child honored on 2012 Rose Parade float

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Four years ago, a Shaker Heights woman lost her three children in a house fire. Now she is finding a new purpose in life, advocating for organ donation.

Rochelle Ogbuji's touching story is one of several being featured at the 2012 Rose Parade on the Donate Life Float. Her 14-month-old daughter Anya was able to give five life-saving organs to other children.

Anya's portrait was turned into a floragraph, made with floral materials. Anya will represent one of the hands of time on a clock that is on the float.

The floragraph was unveiled at Akron Children's Hospital.  Lifebanc hosted a reception to display the floragraph for friends, neighbors, fire and police who were first responders on the scene.    View pictures from the reception now.

This touching story has been featured by NewsNet 5, Akron Beacon Journal, Fox8 and on this website.  Read more about Roschelle and Anya here.
