How Your Contribution Saves Lives
With the support of donated dollars from the community, LifeBanc has been able to:
Create and launch the Gift of Life Donor Memorial Program
The Gift of Life Donor Memorial Program honors organ and tissue donors throughout Northeast Ohio and provides memorial materials and resources to the donor family. Since implementing the program in May of 2009, more than 200 kits have been distributed to families. The program helps to celebrate the heroic gift that the donor and their family one has provided to the community. It is a bereavement resource, keepsake and promotes the positive celebration of the gift of life. The kit includes: a memory box, donor medal, donor proclamation, an infant handprint and/or lock of hair, Donate Life bracelets, Donate Life lapel pins, Ohio Donor Registry brochures, contribution envelopes, bereavement resource brochure, and bookmarks. Additional materials are provided as requested by the family. Cost: $37.16 per kit
Educate 20,207 people in 30 days
In the month of April alone, 180 educational programs were presented in schools, colleges, businesses, faith communities and throughout the community. January through September a total of 959 programs have been presented and 54,930 individuals have been directly reached with the facts about organ and tissue donation and provided a call to action. Cost: $13 per elementary program, $37 per middle school and high school program, $34 per adult program, $110 per multicultural programs.
Publish and distribute a book of gratitude and inspiration
Ohio's Legacy: 88 Stories of Compassion, Caring and Courage
is a gratitude book is a compilation of stories of lives healed and saved from the 88 counties of Ohio. The book was distributed to the Bureau of Motor Vehicle offices and workplace partners throughout our service area as a form of appreciation and inspiration for those champions that have asked the question "Do you want to be an Organ and Tissue Donor?" Cost: $14 per book
Engage libraries throughout Northeast Ohio
The book
The Gift that Heals: Stories of hope, renewal and transformation through organ and tissue donation
by author Reg Green has been provided to 100 libraries throughout northeast Ohio for circulation and educational programming. This initiative was launched with the collaborative support of the Cleveland Eye Bank. Cost: $7.80 per book
Continue to increase Registered Donor rates in Northeast Ohio
70,811 individuals have designated their wishes to be an organ and tissue donor for the first time (January - August 2009) a 4% increase over 2008. Cost: Priceless
