National Donor Sabbath: November 11 – 13,  2011

candleglow

National Donor Sabbath was created to encourage faith-based leaders to bring education and awareness of the need for organ, eye & tissue donors to multicultural communities. It is a call to action for local places of worship to help spread the message of hope and share in celebration of giving men, women and children a second chance of life.

Lifebanc will provide your church with promotional and education tools to distribute to your congregation in efforts of motivating members to become registered donors. Becoming a registered donor brings hope to more than 110,000 men, women, and children waiting for life-saving organ, eye, and tissue transplants.

More than half of the people on the national waiting list are from multicultural populations. Our goal is educate the local community to serve those in need of transplants.

As part of the National Donor Sabbath, we want you to partner with Lifebanc by doing the following:

  • Assign volunteers to distribute information at the display table at your church.
  • Identify a patient or donor family in your congregation who is willing to share a brief testimony at worship service. If there are members with no direct connection, Lifebanc can provide a volunteer to share a testimony.
  • Distribute bulletin inserts provided by Lifebanc.
  • Dedicate special prayer time during service to pray for those waiting for transplants and donor families
  • Assign a scripture reference as a theme
  • Provide an article in the church news letter or on the church website
  • Register  organ, eye, & tissue donors with materials provided by Lifebanc

If you are interested in scheduling a presentation on organ, eye, and tissue donation for your congregation, please contacts Lifebanc's Multicultural Outreach Coordinator or  call 216/ 752- 5433.
