Bereavement Services  Some of the services provided by LifeBanc include: Distribution of Printed Information Mailings to donor families include a wide spectrum of information about grief, suggestions for coping with the loss of a loved one and information about local as well as national resources and programs.

Personal Contacts Bereavement team members contact families to offer support and assist with questions or concerns. Team members are also available for donor families to contact. Grief Counseling Provision of short term support during the grief journey. Community Referrals An extensive listing of bereavement support groups, counselors, and organizations is available. Grief Support Groups Family Night provides an opportunity to receive support and learn more about ways of coping during bereavement. Annual Memorial Service A gathering to honor and remember deceased donors. Recipient Status Is available on request by contacting the LifeBanc Bereavement Department. Exchange of Donor Family and Recipient Correspondence LifeBanc Donor Family Quilt Donor families are welcome to make a quilt square in memory of their loved one. The squares are joined together into a quilt which will hang in the LifeBanc office and be displayed in the Northeast Ohio area to commemorate deceased organ and tissue donors and emphasize the importance of donation and transplantation. Families are also invited to share a story about the meaning of their quilt square. The stories are compiled in a book that is displayed with the quilt. This is an ongoing project. About Grief and Loss Bereavement Resources Donor Family Local and National Events Surgeon General Certificate of Appreciation and Gift of Life Donor Medal Offered to donor families in acknowledgement of the gift of organ and tissue donation. Invitation to Share a Story for LifeBanc's Website Donor families have the opportunity to submit a story, poem or other writing in remembrance of their loved one that may be featured on this website. Bereavement Team Volunteers Volunteer donor family members help provide support to others that have experienced the loss of a loved one.
