A Donor Story Lenny, an aspiring stand-up comedian, made a decision to donate life and shared it with his family. His mother (shown here with her daughter, Rosalind) honored his wish to be a donor following his sudden and tragic death. Even during a time of loss, she remembered an earlier discussion with Lenny about his decision to give someone else the Gift of Life. Lenny's kidneys were donated, giving two people another chance to live a healthier life. A Recipient Story When you look at Andrea, you might never know that she is a heart recipient. Several years ago, a rare genetic condition caused her heart to fail. Quickly, her health deteriorated. For more than 100 days, Andrea waited in the hospital for a new heart. She said the hardest thing about being so ill was losing control of her life. Fortunately, Andrea received the life-saving transplant she needed thanks to the generosity of an organ donor. She now leads an active life as a registered nurse and the mother of three children. Sadly, it was discovered that Andrea's son suffers from the same genetic disorder that she has. He was placed on the waiting list for a life-saving transplant. Once again, Andrea and her family prayed for an organ donor to share the Gift of Life - a heart for her son. Her prayers were answered and Marques was transplanted and is doing very well. The family feels very blessed to have not one but two generous donor families that gave Andrea and Marques a second chance at life.
